PLAY :: KIDS OF ALL AGES

Mt. Bachelor Ski Education Foundation
All I, Trish, have to say is FANTASTIC! My son embarked on his first year with MBSEF after convincing me that he REALLY needed to join. I thought this silly, since he spent most of his free time at the mountain and I thought he was pretty good, but reluctantly, I agreed. His experience has been incredible! The quality instruction has helped him hit the slopes with a newfound confidence and has developed a passion for quality “mountain time”.

Mt. Bachelor
Well, we here all call Mt. Bachelor “the mountain”. Mt. Bachelor is great for summer and winter fun. Visit the website at mtbachelor.com/winter/ for all of the numbers. The bottom line, it is in your backyard. A mere 25 minute drive from the west side of Bend, up Century Drive. There are downhill and cross country skiing, tubing, boarding and dog sled rides for your entertainment. There is a bus called the Super Shuttle that runs from Bend throughout the day to take the kids back and forth if you want to stay home and read the paper!
For the Boarders: “Air Chamber”: It is nearly a mile long and covers 850 vertical feet with 12 or so jumps, boxes and rails to delight!.
“Superpipe”: 400 feet long, the best pipe on the West Coast.
“Slopestyle Arena”: Multiple big hits and home to the Chevy Truck US Snowboard Big Air Exhibition. “Sunshine Park”: For newbies of all ages. This "mini-park" next to the Sunshine Accelerator lift has Fun Boxes, rails and smaller sized tabletops.

Lift tickets can get expensive, but with early online purchase, you can get a great deal.

Athletic Club of Bend
What can I say, all of us are members! I could write a book on the abundance of activities the Club has to offer, but why when they have an excellent web site. Visit them at http://www.athleticclubofbend.com

The High Desert Museum
The High Desert Museum is one of Oregon's star attractions – dedicated to bringing to life the High Desert experience through exhibits and presentations on the region's history, culture, arts, and wildlife. The Museum experience includes live animals in natural habitats, school programs, lectures, shopping, and dining. We go a couple of times a year, with friends. There are indoor and outdoor exhibits, some of them interactive. Visit their website at http://www.highdesertmuseum.org to really see what it is all about.

Shopping:
Having trouble finding something to wear tonight? Head downtown for the best of Bend shopping. Try Local Joe’s, one of my favorite local shops. Their designer threads are worth the extra bucks you might have to explain later. Local Joe’s specializes in their denim choices—the best in Bend. When looking for a fun dress or a cute new tee, the Bend teenager will head to Blue. Their eclectic mix of fun and funky clothes makes it easy to stay ahead of the trends. Dressing up? Head to Hot Box Betty, located right next to Blue. This local boutique will satisfy your craving for designer specialties. Be prepared to fork over a hand and a leg though! Finally, head into Blue Teal for that casual-wear you know you’ve been looking for. The owner, Sabrina, reflects her own style in their mix of casual, “free-spirited” clothing, jewelry, and accessories.
